Thomas Charles Stapleton, 92, passed away on June 19, 2023. He was born on April 18, 1931 in Covington, KY to the late Robert and Thelma Stapleton (nee Fernandez). Tom was a graduate of Newport Catholic High School and Thomas More College. A proud Veteran, he served our country in the U.S. Navy as a Disbursing Clerk, Petty Officer 1st Class. He retired from Procter & Gamble after 34 years. Needing to provide for his large family, Tom also owned his own bookkeeping and tax service and the Newport Plaza Barbers Barbershop. Nothing made Tom happier than spending time with his family. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all who knew him. His stories were legendary and will be told for generations to come. He was a brilliant man known by his children as a human calculator, a fierce scrabble opponent, a lover of dogs, fair-minded and generous to all. In addition to his parents Tom was preceded in death by his siblings Robert, Richard, John and Mary. Tom is survived by his devoted spouse, Joan (nee Fessler), his children Tom (Cathie), Ken (Martha), Maureen Small, Jeff (Wendy), Patti McKnight and Terry (Tasha), 20 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday June 22, 2023, from 4pm to 6pm with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Henry Church in Elsmere, KY with a traditional Irish wake to follow in Wehage Hall. Entombment will be held privately at St. Stephen Cemetery in Ft Thomas, KY. Memorial contributions can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105, or Shriner’s Children’s Ohio 1 Children’s Plaza 2 West, Dayton OH 45404. Heaven gained an Angel

Angel wings are not given, they are earned. They are given to the righteous on earth and celebrated in heaven. May he rest peacefully in the kingdom. Sending love and prayers to the family. I hope the greatest memories comfort the family in times of need. Job well done.

With sympathy

Ken, so sorry for your loss. Sending hugs and prayers to you and your family and hoping fond memories comfort you at this difficult time. I’m out of town tomorrow or would be there in person. Take care,
Kathy Riesenberg
