Richard “Dick” R. Johnson, 83, passed away with his loving family by his side on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Health Care in Edgewood, KY.  He was born on July 30, 1939, in Somerville, NJ to the late Robert and Marian Johnson.

Dick was born and raised in New Jersey.  He met the love of his life, Patricia at an early age, marrying her by the time they were nineteen years old. He proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for several years.  Dick was a truck driver for Van Doren Oil before he retired. For over thirty years, he spent serving his community as a volunteer firefighter for the Hampton Fire Department in Hampton, New Jersey working his way up the ladder to become chief.  Dick also worked on the emergency squad and served on the town council.  He loved watching football, NASCAR and baseball.  He loved his Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals.  Pat and he raised two wonderful children but were still able to make time to camp and travel.  Dick was an exceptional man who would always make you laugh.  He touched many lives and met many friends along the way. He was a father, husband, and grandfather who cherished his family and was proud to serve in those roles.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to carry on his legacy are his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia Johnson; daughter, Suzanne (Anthony) Kerr; sister, Doris Cregar; granddaughter, Amanda (Vaughn) Drexelius; great grandchildren, Chloe Johnson, Ethan Daugherty, Lily Johnson; great -great grandson, Parker Johnson and several nieces, nephews and close friends.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Steven Johnson.

A gathering of friends and family will be held to honor Dick’s life on Friday, October 14, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  A memorial service will immediately follow at 7:00 PM at Linnemann Funeral Home 30 Commonwealth Ave Erlanger, KY 41018.
