Linda Smallwood, 74 of Union, passed away on November 12, 2023. Linda was born on December 4, 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Norbert and Elsie Pies. She attended McAuley High School in Cincinnati and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from the University of Cincinnati. Linda was the most loving, selfless, and inspirational wife, mother, Mimi, sister, aunt, daughter, friend and co- worker. Linda was devoted to her family and loyal to her many friends. She  demonstrated her love of all who entered their home by sharing her gifts of hospitality and culinary talents. She kept family traditions alive and hosted many holidays and family celebrations. In addition  to being an excellent homemaker, Linda was also a respected medical technologist at Bethesda Oak Hospital lab for more than 40 years. She was known for her efficiency, organization, teamwork and sharp mind. Linda was very artistic and creative, and loved making jewelry, painting and crafts. She also enjoyed traveling, but most of all loved spending time with her family. Her legacy will live on in her family and friends. She instilled the values of hard work, doing things “the right way”, dependability, and conservative values in her children and grandchildren. Heaven has gained an angel, but the earthly void will be felt by all who know and love her.

Linda is survived by her husband of 50 years: David Smallwood, son: Jeff (Angie) Smallwood, daughter: Katie (Rob) Trump, grandchildren: Conner, Owen, Lilly, Lucy, Molly, Madalyn and Max, brother: Nick Pies, sister: Barb (Rick) Michalowski, nieces: Jenny, Sheila and Amy and nephews Joe, Will, and Chris, and many close friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday November 18, 2023 from 9am-11am at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Union, KY. Mass will immediately follow at 11:00. All are invited to a reception in Brodnick Hall following the mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Timothy School Building Fund or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences can be left at www.LinnemannFuneralHomes.com

Remembering Linda Smallwood

David, I am so very sorry for your unspeakable loss! I knew you both when you were dating and when you got engaged! You were such beautiful, sweet, kind people, and so in love that it was so natural and perfect for you to get married, have your beautiful kids and make your wonderful life together. I am so blessed to have known you both during that time and remember Linda as an amazing person and lovely young woman, that I wanted to emulate. I’m praying for you, and your family! God blessed you with Linda for over 50 years and is still blessing you with wonderful memories to keep you warm until you are together again.

We will always remember Linda

Linda is the person that humans should aim to be. We’ve only known her for 8 years and we have been deeply impacted by her kindness and the many other qualities she possessed. You’ll always be in our memory, Linda.

Jeff, Santrina and Shaelyn Fletcher
