BALDWIN, Kate Elizabeth Blue, born December 23, 1917, died September 22, 2023 at Rosedale Green in Covington, Kentucky at the age of 105.

Kate was born and raised in Hawkinsville, Georgia until her family moved to Atlanta when she was in college.  Kate married Donovan Appleton Baldwin on June 15, 1940 and was devoted to him in marriage until his death in 1981.  They resided in Pensacola, Florida for the majority of their marriage.  Her passion was teaching, and she taught at multiple parochial schools before settling in at St. Thomas More, where she retired after 25 years.  In 1970, Kate earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of West Florida.  After Donovan’s death, she moved to Stone Mountain, Georgia where she lived for approximately 27 years.  In Stone Mountain, Kate was extremely devoted to her church, Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where she volunteered regularly.  In 2010, she moved to Kentucky to be closer to immediate family until her death.

Kate is survived by her daughter Mildred Cordelli (Dominick) and her son Donovan Baldwin (Donna), grandchildren, Maria, Katherine, Paula, Sharon, Jeffrey, Colleen, Jessica, Sarah, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.   She is preceded in death by her husband Donovan Baldwin, her daughter Katherine Elizabeth, siblings Norman, Mary Emma, Tommie, Joel, Norma, Harry, and Caroline, and granddaughter Ruth.

A memorial service and interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. on October 21, 2023 at Floral Hills Memory Garden in Tucker, Georgia (3150 Lawrenceville Hwy. Tucker, Georgia 30084).

I was a third grade student of Mrs. Baldwin’s at St. Thomas More in Pensacola in 1971-1972. I remember her very fondly. She was a great teacher and kind person. May she rest in eternal peace with our Father in Heaven.
