Jenevieve Louise Kirby of Burlington, KY, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Legacy Living in Florence, KY. She was born on February 27, 1929, in Boone County, KY to the late Robert and Mamie Aylor Hankinson.

Jenevieve grew up in Boone County Kentucky being one of three siblings. She met the love of her life, Mr. Elliott Kirby and took his hand in marriage on May 19, 1946.  They started a family together and had seven wonderful children.  Jenevieve was a homemaker who had a strong work ethic and always made sure things were done and her family was taken care of.  Along with raising seven children, she also helped her husband manage their rental properties and helped with the bookkeeping of his business.

Before Mr. Kirby passed away in 2008, he and Jenevieve enjoyed traveling together to Branson, MO to listen to country music and spending time in the winter months at their favorite place in Marathon Key, FL.  Living on a farm, she loved watching her cows graze, gardening, and even mowing her yard.  Jenevieve was a hard-working lady who loved her family fiercely.  Anyone who had the privilege of knowing this great lady will miss her dearly in the days to come.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Robert and Mamie Hankinson; husband, Elliott Kirby; daughter, Marlene Kirby; sons, Jeffrey Kirby, John Kirby; grandson, Doug Kirby; great grandson, Hogan Koehl and great great granddaughter, Kiara Smith.

Those left here to carry on her loving legacy are her children, Belinda (Paul) Grimes, Diane (George) Finke, Theresa (Charles) Anderson, Jay (Julie) Kirby, daughter-in-law, Martha Kirby (John); grandchildren, Jennifer Knaley, Michael Kirby, Matthew Kirby, Melissa Finke, Michelle Sunnycalb, Tonya Hardcorn, Tessie Finke, Todd Finke, George Finke, Jr., Tosha Brinkman, Trent Finke, Trisha Rector, Julie Koehl, Jason Anderson, Elliott Kirby, Jessica Kirby-Bowen, Jaden Kirby; 47 great grandchildren; 28 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Linnemann Funeral Home 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY 41005.  A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 1:00 pm.  Jenevieve will be laid to rest next to her husband at Burlington Cemetery.  The Kirby family invites all friends and family to join them for a reception following the services from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm in the Linnemann Event Center at the Funeral Home.

Caregiver tribute

You and your family have my deepest condolences. Jenevive was such a sweet lady, and so funny!! I had the pleasure of meeting her as one of her caregivers. On her last birthday, she referred to me as her lady friend, and I was truly honored. I will miss her. Chery F.
