John W. (Jack) Goeke, son of John and Eva Schuler Goeke, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2023, at the age of 87.  Jack is survived by his siblings Mary Ann Behrle, Tom (Nancy) Goeke, Virginia (Robert-deceased) Strunk, seven nieces and nephews, and 15 great niece and nephews.

Jack was a graduate of Covington Latin School and entered the seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota for the Diocese of Covington.  He was ordained a priest in 1959 and served in numerous parishes throughout the diocese.  Jack was also the founder of HONK, Housing Opportunities of Northern KY, which provided home ownership that reduced prices for the poor.  Jack utilized many volunteers for the construction, rehabbing, and maintenance of the properties. They created facilities in Covington, Newport, Bellevue, and other cities in the northern Kentucky area.

Jack loved farming and caring for his cattle, equipment, and his land.  He spent time at Lake Cumberland on houseboat trips and on his own ski boat.  He was a true lover of nature and thanked God for the beautiful world that God created.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  He was the most caring and loving person.  The family wishes to sincerely thank the St. Elizabeth Hospice nurses, the Celebration Villa staff, the Sisters and Priests that came to visit, and his caregiver, Sharon Davis.  A private funeral, followed by the burial at Mother of God Cemetery, was held at the convenience of the family.

Donations in his memory may be sent to Housing Opportunities of NKY at 502 Fry Street, Covington, KY 41011.
