Irma Wingate (nee Schneider), 89, of Covington, KY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Rosedale Green.

Irma was born in Augsburg, Germany, to Peter and Sofie Schnieder and would have celebrated her 90th birthday the end of March. She met the love of her life and late husband, Thomas Wingate while he was in the U.S. Army military service in Germany. Irma worked at Crossett Company for 27 years until she retired. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Irma was widowed at forty and raised her two children being strong and resilient. She loved for everyone to call her Grandma, since that was one of her greatest joys. She often talked about becoming an American citizen and how proud she was when she accomplished that goal. She did have a stubborn nature and a temper, which was always indicated when she would convert and speak in German.

Irma was also preceded in death by her siblings, David Schneider, Emma Kaspar, and Elfriede Figel.

She is survived by her children, Peter Wingate, oldest son, and Linda (Thomas) Herald.

Irma also leaves behind her grandsons, Christopher (Jennifer) Herald and Michael Herald; and her great-grandson, Caden Herald

Service will be held at Forest Lawn chapel on March 20th, 2024 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Very Sweet Person

I worked with Erma at the Crossett Co. We would work on Sundays together. She would invoice all the Thriftway invoices after the loaders finished loading there truck. I ran into her when she was with Pete at the Christmas store. That was quite a few years ago. She will be truly missed. Pete, My prayers go out to you and your sister. God Bless you both.
