Christine Marie Bartel, 35, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 23, 2023.

Christine was a graduate of Northern Kentucky University and a member Delta Zeta Sorority.  She then went on to obtain her master’s degree from Xavier University.  Christine was a teacher at Immaculate Heart of Mary School for 13 years, where she was also a parishioner.  She was a very dedicated and passionate teacher that touched the lives of countless students who adored her. Christine was a very devoted mother, raising the most wonderful, strong, and compassionate children.  She was very creative and loved to be organized.  Christine enjoyed traveling and camping at every major national park east of the Mississippi with her husband and children.  She loved spending time with her friends and a gathering was never complete without her favorite, a shot of Fireball!

She was preceded in death by Baby Bartel who she looked forward to meeting one day.

Christine is survived by her loving husband of almost 14 years, Anthony “Tony” Bartel; children, Ella Marie and Jackson Edward; parents, Chris and Cathy Brehl; siblings, Mary Beth Marqua (Daniel) and Will Brehl (Noelle Lameier); nephews, Harrison and Ezekiel Marqua; father and mother-in-law, Bob and Diane Bartel; as well as the IHM community, many relatives, extended family and good friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 5876 Veterans Way, Burlington, KY 41005.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 1, 2023, at 10:00 AM also at the church.  Burial will immediately follow mass at St. John Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, KY.

Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Heart of Mary School, 5876 Veterans Way, Burlington, KY 41005.

Gift of Love

I extend my deepest condolences on the passing of Christine. As her Catholic sponsor for confirmation, I recall our conversations about faith, hope, and love. Christine passionately believed that love was the greatest of all virtues, insisting that with love, one has everything. Throughout her life, she embodied this belief, radiating love in her family, teaching, and community. Her intelligence, kindness, hard work, and caring nature left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

May she rest in eternal peace.

With sympathy,
Diana Biddle

Condolences

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Mrs. Bartel. I was in her first ever 5th grade class at IHM and remember her kind & funny personality. I will be praying for the family during this challenging time. I am forever grateful for the impact she had on me. (John 16:22)

Our deepest sympathies

We were shocked and saddened to learn of Christine’s passing. She was such a kind person who always had a pleasant smile to share with the world. Even though our daughters hadn’t been in school together for many years, Christine was always friendly when we would see each other at volleyball games and other events. I was thinking of Christine recently when our eighth grader selected St. Henry as her high school. She is hoping to reconnect with Ella, if they are back together at the same school. Prayers and peace to your family at this difficult time.

The World Stopped When You Left Us

The world stopped when you left us. Growing up together, I always looked up to you and Mary. As adults we loved catching up about our camping adventures and swapping ideas of our next places to visit. Our hearts are broken but you are in the most majestic place with our Lord and Savior. Until we see each other again my beautiful cousin.
Cristina and Michael Floyd

You will be missed

I can’t believe you are gone. You always made me want to be better. I wanted to learn to find the best in everything. The world is a better plave because you were in it
