Alice Fay Langley Sprague
Alice Fay Langley Sprague peacefully entered the Kingdom of Heaven on November 2, 2023 after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 62 years (and the love of her life) Charles, daughters: Fay Parker (Wayne), Jan Reis (Gene) and Jill Hamlin (Barry), sister, Nancy Langley, grandchildren: Marissa Cruz, Natalie Cassiano, Katie Lindsey, Caroline Marklay, Madeline Hamlin and Jake Hamlin, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lona Langley, her sisters: Betty, Jean, and JoAnne, her brother, John and her granddaughter, Allison Brooks.
Alice was born and raised in Gadsden, AL and lived in numerous parts of the country over the years. She had many interesting and varied careers during her life, most notably as the secretary to the Dean of Men at Washington State University, and a long career as a Realtor in Florida, before settling with Charles in Florence, KY in 1998 to be close to family. Alice volunteered with St. Vincent DePaul and Catholic Charities and was a member of Holy Cross parish. Regardless of where she lived, she never forgot her roots, and her love of all things Alabama, specifically the Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Alice on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Holy Cross Church, 3612 Church Street, Covington, KY 41015. Alice will be laid to rest at Forrest Cemetery in Gadsden, AL with her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in honor of Alice to Catholic Charities at 3629 Church Street, Covington, KY 41015 or to Holy Cross St. Vincent DePaul at 3912 Church Street, Covington, KY 41015 or to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital at 3333 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45229.

Memories
I’m leaving in a few days to attend my Aunt Alice’s funeral service. As I reflect on her and memories I have they all bring a smile. When her and Uncle Beau moved to town, I was in high school. It was a great time having cousins close by. We had moved so much; we did not really see cousins that much before then. Swimming in their pool, using the sauna, playing games, cooking out and meals together are all great memories. Going out on Lake Conway and skiing behind Miss Moses Lake was a summer tradition. My first job was at Hickory Farms, set up by Cousin Faye and when I got into sales, selling Vorwerk Vacuums, Aunt Alice set me up with many friends to help with continued sales. She was always a great support to me, and I miss those times and her. Besides being a game competitor whether it be Password, Rook, or the next new one, she was a trivial expert on Alabama football and sports in general. I know a lot about Alabama but don’t come close to her database. She’s cheering them on now with a better view and have a feeling her mom and dad are watching with her. Probably Bear, too. Rest in peace Aunt Alice, you had an impact on my life and many others.
