Betty K. Hammons, Covington, KY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 25, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY at the age of 84. Betty was a retired bookkeeper and a member of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 203, and a KY Colonel. She enjoyed watching UK Basketball and the Cincinnati Reds in her free time. Surviving are her daughters, Beverly (Robert) McCarthy of Florence, KY, Brenda (Dan) Read of Burlington, KY and Pam (Steve) Morgan of Florence, KY and her gentlemen friend, Guy Collins. Betty also leaves behind eight grandchildren (Colleen, Tom, Britt, Danielle, Andrew, Brenna, Brandon, and Amber), 23 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer D. (Bud) Hammons in 2007 and two brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 11AM to 12:30PM at Linnemann Funeral Homes, Erlanger, KY with Eastern Star services to start at 12:30PM along with the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 203 service. Funeral services will be at 1PM with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Erlanger, KY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice or charity of your choice.

American legion Auxiliary Service

Betty and I served the same year as Presidents from our Departments…she from Kentucky and me from Oregon. It was a terrific year serving under National President, Romaine Roethel. A highlight of that year was the project to raise funds for the stained glass window in the Washington DC, National Cathedral that was installed and dedicated the following year. Many fond memories of our year of service together on behalf of veterans. Linda Boone
