Edward Lee Schatzman

Ed Schatzman was a gem. My first job was at his store and over the years it turned into an interest in pharmacy, prompting a long career in the drug industry, ending with my current job in D.C. working for FDA in the Center for Drug…..all because Eddy (he called me Willy) took the time to explain to a young boy how drugs worked and how they were made. I am so sorry to have missed his passing. He would open the store after hours if a patient was in pain and needed a refill, even regularly staying open on Sunday mornings during a time when 24-7 pharmacies were not yet invented. Many times he let patients run a charge account and if they fell on hard times, he didn’t push to collect. He worked hard and the highlight of his day was the liver and onions plate at the Greyhound Grill. Independent pharmacies are going the way of the dinosaur; but, I hope the world will always have people like Ed in it. They don’t make them any better than Ed Schatzman. ~William Fritsch

I was so very sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. He was the nicest man and neighbor that anyone could have. I have so many memories of our years on Timberlake, living next door to your family. I remember babysitting all of you (50 cents an hour). We were very fortunate to have grown up in that neighborhood.

I know that you are unable to have a visitation at this time, but know that I would be there if you could. Hope you and your families are all well.
