Sylvia Marie Wilson

Sylvia Marie Wilson, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY.  She was born in Covington, KY on August 21, 1937, to Francis and Elizabeth Tretter Clingner.

Sylvia was married to the love of her life, William Wilson for 49 years before he passed away in 2004.  She was the librarian for Holy Family School at St. Benedict’s for nearly 50 years.  Her years of service were so much appreciated that they named the Library after Sylvia.  She was a member of the Holy Family PTO and CCD teacher.  Sylvia was an excellent cook and loved to babysit.  Her grandchildren and great grands were her whole world. She was very devout in her faith and served the Lord always.  Sylvia will be remembered for her kind heart and sweet spirit.  She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left here to carry on her loving legacy are her children, Anita Piner, Anna Jenne, Catherine Thornberry, Carol Wilson, William “Bill” Wilson, Michael Wilson, Jeffrey Wilson; twenty grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brother, Ted Clingner and several other extended family members and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Francis and Elizabeth Clingner, husband, William Wilson, daughter Patricia Wilson, sister, Phyllis Rigney, and brother Chip Clingner.

A memorial mass will be held to honor and celebrate Sylvia’s life on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church 338 E 17^th St., Covington, KY 41014. A reception will be held immediately afterwards at the school hall, immediately across the street.
