Sr. Helen Hergott OSB
Sister Helen Hergott, OSB, died peacefully Thursday night, December 27 at St. Walburg Monastery at age 82. A Benedictine sister for over 62 years, Sr. Helen served as a primary/intermediate grade teacher at a number of schools in the Diocese of Covington, religious education and kindergarten teacher at St. Ann Parish, Manchester, KY, Diocesan Elementary Consultant, and chaplain at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. She is preceded in death by her parents Stanley & Esther Bramlage Hergott, her step-mother, Gabriella Blau Hergott, sisters, Marian Morgan and Judy Wood and brother, James Blau. Sr. Helen is survived by her sister Ruth (Don) McGoron and brother, Jack (Pat) Blau, many nieces and nephews, friends and her Benedictine community. Vigil service will be held at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, January 2 followed by visitation until 9:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 5:20 pm, Thursday, January 3 at St. Walburg Monastery. Condolence message
So sorry to hear of Sr. Helen’s passing. I taught with her at St. Paul’s in Florence fourth grade, and later when I taught kindergarten at St Henry she was the Dioceasn consultant for K teachers. I had much respect for her vocation and her love of children. My condolences to her family members and her St Walburg community. Sincerely, Maureen Rauch
