Shirley Ann ‘Shirley Girl’ Doran passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at her vacation home in Panama City Beach, Florida, on August 20, 2018. Shirley was the beloved wife of Patrick J. Doran for 61 years. Born Shirley Ann Canada, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Canada on June 30, 1936, in Norwood, Ohio, Shirley held a lifelong love of Norwood and always reminisced fondly of her childhood. Shirley is survived by her children Diana (Pat Cummings), Patricia, Deborah (Ray Shrout), Timothy, Thomas (Nikki), as well as her brother Bill (Phyllis) Canada, her sister June (the late ‘Bud’) Browning, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Shirley’s sister Mary Adkins, her brother Sherman (‘Junior’) Canada, Jr, and her grandson Trey Patrick Kramer predeceased her. Shirley always had a beautiful smile ready for everyone and was well liked by all her friends in the many communities she travelled to and lived in, including the Norwood/Cincinnati area, Louisville, KY, Washington, DC, as well as her winter vacation home in Panama City Beach, FL. Shirley had a special fondness for Christmas, which she looked forward to with delight each year. Her love of all children led to Shirley’s owning and operating a daycare out of her home for many years, only curtailed by health issues later in life. A celebration of life will be held at Linnemann’s Funeral Home, 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY 41005, Sunday, August 26, from 2 pm to 4 pm for those who would like to attend. A private interment for family will be held Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that mourners send donations to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
