Sandy Wendling (nee Glaser) 79

Killer golf game, wizard at bridge, extraordinary seamstress, impeccable sense of style, and famous for her pies…particularly lemon meringue, but most of all she was a kind and loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend.  Sandy Wendling was suddenly called home on Saturday, March 20.  She was born in Bromley, KY to Bill and Frieda Glaser in 1943 and married Bill Wendling in 1961, with whom she had two children.  For many years she was dedicated to the care of her daughter, Paige, who was born with a congenital heart defect.  Later in life she returned to school earning certification as a typesetter.  She subsequently traveled the world visiting every continent except Antarctica.  She was a consummate hostess known for gatherings where everyone was welcome.  She was active at Erlanger Christian Church where she passionately supported the weekly Blessing Box, Whiz Kids and women’s activities.  Sandy was preceded in death by her daughter, her parents, her husband of 51 years and one of her closest friends, Mary Lou Wilde.  She leaves behind her son Mark (Mindy) Wendling of Fairfield, OH, grandsons Kyle and Zach, brother Dave (Terry) Glaser of Waukegan, IL and a multitude of family and friends.  Visitation at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 27 @ Erlanger Christian Church followed by a memorial service @ 3:00 p.m.  Charitable donations may be made to Children’s Heart Association (www.chaoc.org) and to Erlanger Christian Church (www.erlangerdisciples.org).  To share a story or to leave condolences, please go to: www.linnemannfuneralhomes.com

From Sandy’s neighbors

To Sandy’s family,
We were Sandy’s “across the street” neighbors. When we first met Sandy we had just moved in in December of 2012. She came over and welcomed us with a plate of cookies. Our hearts broke for her as she had just lost her husband yet reached out to us. We learned later that she always greets and welcomes new neighbors. Sometime later she hosted a get acquainted party for our block since there were several new people who had moved in. We were very sad to learn of her unexpected passing as we saw her a day or two before doing some clean up in her yard. We send our sincere sympathy and condolences,
Danny & Lynette Faulkner

Love you and miss you!

Sandy:
We have some wonderful memories and even though we were miles apart for so long, I still feel such a strong bond and will cherish the times we spent together.
