Steven Anthony Pemberton, 34, passed away peacefully at his home in Latonia, KY with his mother by his side on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, after a courageous battle with testicular cancer. Anthony was born in Edgewood, KY on February 24, 1989, to Jo Ann Bachman and Steve Pemberton.

Anthony was reared in Northern, KY and was a graduate of Dixie Heights High School, class of 2007, and attended Eastern Kentucky University and KY Community Colleges where he studied business and golf. Anthony worked in the banking industry.

Anthony’s presence in this world made life a better place for all who knew and loved him, and those he did not know but to whom he showed compassion. Anthony loved God and had an ever-increasing, strong faith in God through Scripture, prayer, & reflection. For all who had the privilege of knowing and loving this great man, he will be missed beyond measure in the days to come.

Anthony always made sure family and friends’ needs were met before his own. He derived the most satisfaction from his passion for volunteering. Since prior to high school, Anthony has been volunteering in the community by serving food to the community, visiting the homeless providing food, clothing, & funds. Anthony was an intelligent, strong-minded individual especially when it came to world events and fundamental principles/values. His favorite hobby was cooking for others, especially his own recipes, BBQ and Anthony’s famous, from scratch caramel apple pie recipe (delish). Sports memorabilia, collectibles, and being a sports fan for Cincinnati FC  Soccer, Bengals, Reds, and the North Carolina Tar Hills was a pass-time. He was an excellent soccer player and coached his cousin’s soccer team and enjoyed playing golf. Anthony enjoyed country and Christian music. He would light up a room with his contagious smile and sense of humor, brightening the day. Anthony was up for an adventure when he traveled & hiked, especially hiking locally and in Colorado. He was resilient, strong, selfless, and caring. Upon Anthony’s passing, he donated his body to medical science.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents, George and Betty Bachman, great grandmother Gertrude Perrine, and grandfather, Bob Melia.

Those left here to carry on his loving legacy are Anthony’s mother, Jo Ann Bachman and dad, Steve Pemberton; sisters, Alexis Delaney, Morgan (Tyler) Thomas, Meagan Pemberton; niece Willow Thomas, step-father Bill Delaney;  grandmother Loraine Pemberton; step-grandmother Naomi Melia; aunts Jennifer (John) Tomlinson, Dawn (Terry) Frazier, Cheryl Pemberton, Vicki Murphy; uncles Mike Pemberton, David (Leslie) Bachman, Danny (Sue) Bachman, Michael (Kate) Bachman; many cousins; best friends Mike, Jake, Ashleigh Skylar and his very beloved companion, four-legged furry baby, Lady Oreo.

A memorial visitation will be held in honor of Anthony’s life on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Linnemann Funeral Home 30 Commonwealth Ave, Erlanger, KY 41018 from 2:00PM to 3:30PM. A memorial service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 3:30PM.  Anthony’s ashes will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery on Dixie Highway in Ft. Mitchell, KY.

Donations may be made in honor of Anthony to the Anthony Pemberton Foundation (501c3org) PO Box 175707, Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017.  The donations will be sponsoring the adoption of dogs that have been fostered or sheltered the longest to go to loving furever homes or the distribution of bibles to the homeless and confined.

“The righteous die too soon and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil to come.  The righteous shall enter into peace and rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.” Isaiah 57:1-2.

Very sorry for your loss

Dear Pemberton Family,
I am so sorry to read about the loss of your dear loved one, Steven Anthony. Even though I do not know his family personally, I would like to offer my sincere condolences. May you all draw comfort and hope from God’s Word the Bible where he promises that, “He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away” (Rev. 21:4). Isn’t it comforting to know our loving Creator will wipe away all things that cause us sadness? His beloved Son also promises that, “All those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out” (John 5:28-29). God is the “God of all comfort” and he assures you, “He is close to the broken-hearted, and he saves those crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). It is my hope that these promises, and the ones you personally reflect on will give you comfort now, and a real hope for your future. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time of sorrow.
