Condolences

Orvel Jones of Union, died on December 25th at the age of 88. Orvel was a Korean War Veteran, a loving husband to Marie, and caring father to two daughters. He was a wonderful grandfather and great-grandfather as well. Orvel was an avid fisherman, belonging to several Bass Fishing Clubs throughout his life. He enjoyed bowling and was a champion amongst family at corn hole and horseshoes. As a member of Big Bone Baptist Church since 1965, Orvel served his church as a Deacon. Orvel is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Haley Jones, beloved wife of 59 years, Marie Jones, and his 7 siblings. He is remembered in the hearts of those who survive him, daughters, Maritha “Jane” Messenger and Melinda Terry; grandchildren Jared Messenger, Steven and Shaun Leicht and Scott Mahan; and great-grandchildren Gabriel and Lucia Messenger, Sabella, Zach and Chris Leight and Tyler Stence.  A visitation, followed by a service, will take place Saturday, December 29th 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with service starting at 1:00 p.m. at Big Bone Baptist Church. Burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park will be held privately at a later date. The family requests donations in Orvel’s name be made to Big Bone Baptist Church Attn: Building Fund, 11036 Big Bone Church Rd. Union, KY 41091.
