Thin threads…
My condolences to my cousins and their families.
When I was maybe 4 or 5 I would stay with Aunt Moose while mom vent shopping with Aunt Toppie. She would play a 45 recording of Puff the Magic Dragon by Peter Paul and Mary over and over for me. As a teenager I picked up playing guitar and this was the first song i hammered out. I played it for years around the campfire at the end of our 4th of July celebration, even after my cousins stopped attending. Recently at my dad’s wake, my nieces, nephews and children brought this up as one of their favorite memories. All of them fondly remember me playing Puff to wind down at the end of the wild and noisy 4th. I never told any of them how I came to love that song.
It’s kinda cool that such a small thing as a song carried through generations all because my precious aunt patiently replayed it for me. Rest in peace. Well done, good and faithful servant. You created love through the years. Bernie Wesselman
