Hattie H. Pigford was born on April 20, 1928  in Thomaston, Georgia. She was one of two children born to the late Charlie Kendall and Ada Beatrice Miller Kendall. Her sister Florence preceded her.
She met and married Willie N. Green at an early age and to this union 4 children were born, Ronald, Wilnet (both preceded her in death), Cornell and Valarie. Later in life she married the love of her life Richard Pigford from this union Teresa was born.
Hattie was educated throughout the New York City school system. Hattie worked for Barricini candy company for many years. From there she went to work for the New York Telephone company as an operator until her retirement.
Hattie loved the Lord, as well as her church and church family . She knew HE wanted her to be a blessing to others. She demonstrated this knowledge in the way she interacted with her family, life long friends and total strangers.  She was a member of Jackson Memorial AME Zion Church in Hempstead, NY. where she worked tirelessly on as many ministries as  time would allow. To name a few; she was a missionary, class leader, choir member, member of the breakfast committee, the lay council and worked on many other ministries throughout the church. Hattie was also a member of Sandy Grove  Baptist in Clio, S.C. and she belonged to Eureka Grand Chapter of the Prince Hall Order of the Eastern Stars; Deborah Past Matron Chapter #31.
Hattie loved to travel, was an avid reader, she read her Bible and the Daily Word daily. She enjoyed a good novel or a book of inspirational words. She loved to entertain and her house was the home of love that all her family members and friends were drawn to. Hattie’s love of life and family  always drew a crowd and continued even throughout her last days. Hattie was known to more than just her family as “Mother”. Her love for people and children was easily noticed by anyone who met her. She was a vibrant woman who always had a smile on her face and love in her heart. Hattie’s family always came first in her life and she was known to them as the peacekeeper. Total strangers usually didn’t remain strangers for long. She was a good listener who provided sound and loving guidance. She didn’t provide sugarcoated guidance, just truth wrapped up in love. She would provide you a shoulder to lean on and strong arms for comfort and love. In later life, she also enjoyed spending time at the casino.
She leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy her children; Cornell (Olga) Green of Clarkston, Ga, Valarie Quick, of Laurinburg, N.C Teresa (Antonio) Rivera of Walton, Ky., Wendy (Steven) of Suugarland, Texas Grandchildren; Lance, Jeffrey, Maurice, Sharice, Tamisha, De’Jhon, Richie, Ricky, Pamela( Antonio), Tanya,(Oscar), Shelly,(Jason) Anthony (Tashi) and Stephen,  Stacey and  Julian and Great-Grandchildren; Kiyanna, Amber, Demarious, Nahla, Mahki, Ezekiel,  Akeem, Raheem,  Ayanna, Ayrianna, Janya, Kali, Nyla, Tylik, Harmony, Indiah, Brielle, Noah, Ethan, Kingston, and Sofia and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, other relatives and friends.
