Ethel M. Thornton

Ethel Marie Thornton, 83, of Fort Mitchell, KY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in the comfort of her home. She was born June 17, 1937 in Owenton, KY to the late Willie Cornman and Lucille Cornman Wainscott (nee: Duncan). Ethel was a mother of noble character, and she proudly cared for her children throughout their lives. She was a loving and playful grandmother, and her family was always her number one priority. Ethel loved animals, and she enjoyed watching and feeding birds. She also enjoyed gardening and keeping up with her house. Before Ethel started to get sick, she was an active member of Crescent Springs Baptist Church, and she enjoyed attending their ladies Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her husband: Bobby Thornton, her son: Vaughn Thornton, daughter: Tonya Thornton and her brothers: Robert Cornman and W.C Cornman. Ethel is survived by her beloved granddaughter: Grace Thornton, her loving daughter-in-law: Kay Thornton-Williams (Kevin), her dear siblings: Benny Cornman (Hazel), and Jack Cornman, her sister-in-laws: Ruth Anne Bateman (Bill) and Elizabeth Eaton, brother-in-law: Louis Thornton (Pat), and several loving nieces and nephews. Ethel’s family would also like to thank and recognize the great care providers from Comfort Keepers, especially; Heather, Carissa, Rachel, and Jackie. A graveside service will be held for Ethel on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Chapel in Erlanger, KY. Due to current Covid-19 mandates, mask and social distancing will be required. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Special Olympics of Northern Kentucky at P.O.
