Condolences

Elizabeth M. Hayes, nee MacCutcheon, 97 of Ft. Thomas, KY and former long-term resident of both Louisville, KY and Whitesboro, NY passed away on Thursday September 22, 2022. She was a devoted wife to her husband Harold (2020) and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Elizabeth was born on April 19, 1925, in Arlington, Massachusetts, 150 years to the day and 10 miles from the site and start of the American Revolution. A notable accomplishment growing up was the perfect school attendance she achieved from kindergarten thru high school, not missing a day for any reason. Elizabeth was also profoundly influenced by growing up during depression and World War II. The values of frugality and duty learned during the depression and war continued with her for life. After high school, Elizabeth attended and received a Diploma from Pierce Secretarial School in Boston, Massachusetts. She utilized her education employed as an administrative assistant in the fire insurance industry before marrying and raising four children.

Family was always first and foremost. Besides raising her four children, she was a devoted grandmother, wife, and daughter. As a grandmother, she filled a vital role in the raising of four of her grandchildren who were five to eleven years of age when they lost their mother. As a wife, she devoted nearly a decade caring for Dad when he could no longer care for himself.  As a daughter, she cared for her mother many years as she suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. Education was a central value to raising her children and grandchildren. As such she was proud that all her children and grandchildren graduated from college.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Robinson (1999) and her husband of 70 years, Harold (2020).  She is survived by her sons, Paul (Mary) Hayes of Maplewood, NJ, Jim (Patty) of Deansboro, NY, Ken (Leslie) of Edgewood, KY, and her son-in-law, Hank Robinson (Karen) of Louisville, Kentucky. Elizabeth also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Private funeral services for Elizabeth will be held on Saturday October 29th. A Reception/Celebration of Life will be held for both Elizabeth and Harold (2020) on October 29th from noon – 3pm at Mesh Restaurant 3608 Brownsboro Road Louisville, KY  40207. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences can be made at www.linnemannfuneralhomes.com
