Charlie Utz, 61 of Burlington, passed away September 9, 2021. Charlie was a staple of the Burlington community as a “Dad” to many and friend to everyone. He spent 27 years working for the Board of Education Transportation Department. He loved spending time with his family, a good sip of bourbon, and playing cards with his friends. He had a love for all things John Deere and his trucks.  Charlie will be truly missed by the numerous people who knew his kindness.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 8 years: Tami Utz, children: Dustin Wayne Utz, Amber Nicole (Drew Preston) Utz, Keshia Lee (Thomas) Walton, step-children who he loved as his own: Ryan Michael Clayton, Kyle Ardew (Sarah) Walton, Ethan Ray (Lauren) Walton, 6 grandchildren, brothers: Anthony (Dee) Utz, Samuel Utz, Michael (Kathy) Utz, Russell Utz, Terry (Melissa) Utz, Robert Utz,  sisters:  Diane Utz, Vietta Utz, Pamela Utz and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Charlie was preceded by his Aunt and Uncle: Arthur and Margaret Utz, brother: Jamie Utz, and parents: Samuel and Betty Utz.

A visitation will be held Saturday, September 18, 2020 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Burlington Baptist Church. A service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm. The family asks that you come as you are and dress like your own version of Charlie!

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cowboy Up for a Cure (cowboyupforacure.org) and Kentucky FFA, as Charlie was a member of the Conner High School Chapter (https://kyffa.org/ways-to-give)

To Everyone in the Utz Family

Our hearts go out to all of you in this sad time. May the memories of a happy life give you genuine comfort. We are so sorry we cannot make the service but we will be with you in prayer.
“When my body won’t hold me anymore
And it finally lets me free
Where will I go?
Will the trade winds take me south through Georgia grain?
Or tropical rain?
Or snow from the heavens?
Will I join with the ocean blue?
Or run into a savior true?
And shake hands laughing
And walk through the night, straight to the light
Holding the love I’ve known in my life
And no hard feelings”
—Rick and Mary (Dickey) Groger
