Charlie Sassin Jr.

Charles Kelly Sassin Jr., 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 14, 2021 at his Covington, KY residence.  Charlie was born in Ashland, KY on March 21, 1931 to the late Charles Sr. and Gretchen Sassin.  During his younger years, Charlie proudly served his county in the U.S. Navy. He was the plant manager at Liberty Cherry in Latonia and ultimately owned and operated Charlie Sassin Realty, for 42 years, until his retirement.  Charlie was a very active member of Mary Queen of Heaven Church.  He was a very prayerful man and attended Mass every day for 20 years.  Charlie ministered to members of Mary Queen, served as a lector, and was a financial supporter of all the fundraising events at the church as well as in the community.  He was preceded in death by his first wife Beatrice Ricker Sassin, second wife Peggy Andrews Sassin, daughter Sharon Kay Sassin, son Charles “Chuckie” Sassin, son Donald “Donnie” Sassin, step-son Freddy Marksberry, grandson Ricky Ricker Sassin, great granddaughter Alyssa Ayala, and sister Mary Jane Sassin.  He is survived by his children Nancy Morrison (Randy), Cynthia Denton (Albert), Rick Sassin (Kimberly), and Sandra Baggett (Jeff), step-daughter Diane Kmit (Larry), 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, daughter-in-law Suzy Sassin, Step Daughter-in-Law Lucy Marksberry, and sister Kitty Cleves.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 10am until 12pm at Mary Queen of Heaven Church.  A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow the visitation.  Interment will be at St. Stephen Cemetery in Ft.
