Mary Lynn Powell, age 60, died peacefully on Tuesday January 9, 2018 at St Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood Kentucky. She was born to the late Ford and Sarah Powell on September 5, 1957 in Ashland Kentucky. Mary is survived by her daughter Sarah Page Jones, father of her children Benjamin Jones, brothers Ford Powell and Craig Powell, sister Jane Taylor, and a number of family and friends. She is preceded in death by her son Adam Benjamin Jones. Mary loved music, art and reading. She would often have jam sessions with her children and talk about the great musicians of her time. She instilled in them a great love for music. She was extremely intelligent, graduating valedictorian of her high school class, and went on to receive her Masters of Taxation. She worked as a Certified Public Accountant for many top companies including Proctor and Gamble, and Verizon. Many joked she was a walking encyclopedia. She seemed to know an answer to any question you asked, and was filled with random knowledge. Mary loved spending time with her children. She took them on many adventures and taught them to go after their dreams with all of their might. Mary will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, contagious laugh, and her big beautiful smile that could light up a room. Her strength in all things, even in her fight, is nothing short of inspirational. She will continue to inspire many as they think of memories with her. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018, from 3p.m. to 5 p.m. at Linnemann Funeral Home in Erlanger with service to immediately follow. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. The family is respectfully asking memorial donations be made to her daughter Sarah Page Jones in memory of her mother. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to St Elizabeth Hospice for their support in her final days.

Very Sorry

TO FRIENDS & FAMILY OF Ms. POWELL : I am so very sorry to hear of your loss and wish to extend my condolences to family and friends. What a full life Mary lived in such a short time! Death is truly an enemy to all of us at any age. Even God himself hates death and he has promised to eliminate death along with pain and sickness forever in Revelation 21:3, 4: “With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
Soon, very soon, the resurrection that Jesus spoke of in John 5:28, 29 which reads,” All those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” will take place and allow us the opportunity to welcome back our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death to awaken on a paradise earth and to enjoy life forever upon it. What a wonderful promise that God has in store for us! May these promises from the Bible bring you a measure of comfort now and a real hope of being reunited with Mary again. Take care.
Jim
