SFC (retired) Joe E. Chumbley left this world on July 1st at Rosewood Nursing Center in Killeen TX. He was born on March 28, 1933 to the late Luther and Sue Chumbley nee: Hainey in Engle, KY. Joe valiantly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1954 and again in the U.S. Army from 1959-1979 when he retired from the military. In the civilian world, Joe worked in the field of electronics and retired from Cincinnati Electronics. Joe enjoyed traveling, especially to see his family, whom he loved very much and enjoyed spending his time with. He liked to dine out, and watch a Cincinnati Reds or Bengals game. No matter who might be there, Joe would go to military reunions and enjoy time with his fellow servicemen. Joe was also a proud member of the El Maida Shriners Drum and Bugle Corps, and was a 32nd degree mason of the Scottish Rite in El Paso, TX. After the death of his wife, Joe relocated to Nolanville, TX and resided with his son and daughter-in-law. Joe is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years Veanetta nee: Corbin; parents; brother, Bill Chumbley and sisters, Margaret Yost and Louise Reed. He is survived by son Joseph (Lorri) Chumbley of Nolanville, TX; daughter, Connie (Bill) Crawn of Constableville, NY; many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held for Joe on September 5th at Mother of God Cemetery in Latonia, KY at 12PM with full military honors. Please leave a message of comfort under the condolences tab.

Forever In Our Hearts

“Uncle Joe” was a great man and will be sorely missed by many. I first met him in 2005 when I started dating my husband Troy (nephew by marriage, late Veanetta’s nephew) and wish I could have known him much longer! He was simply the best and my children grew close to him and, missed him ever since he moved to TX, As we all have.
Im glad he got to spend his last days with this family there. I know he enjoyed being with them. All his family meant the world to him.
I hope he knew how much he was loved in Life.
I send my deepest condolences and sympathy to all his family and friends.
We love u Uncle Joe and We miss you!
God Bless
